OOU Commissions New Ultra Modern Mosque


The Olabisi Onabanjo University Muslim community, Ago–Iwoye has commissioned a newly built Ultra Modern Masjid named As–Sujood Mosque on Friday at the main Campus of the university in Ago- Iwoye, Ogun state.

The immediate past pro– chancellor OOU Hajia Tamramat Mosun Bello Olusoga who doubles as the donor of mosque officially commissioned the dazzling mosque,As–Sujood Mosque (meaning prostration as sign of humility and submission) and give thanks to Allah (SWT) for making the project a successful one.

The ultramodern mosque is world class which costs millions of naira with the capacity of 1200 worshippers, comprises Males and females section, ablution center, toilets, parking lot and one minaret,and completed within eleven months.

The commissioning was graced by several dignitaries including the pro–chancellor OOU,Prof Toyin Ashiru, Vice Chancellor OOU, Prof Ganiyu O. Olatunde, Chairman and pro–chancellor of Summit University, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka , The Ebumawe of Ago –Iwoye, Oba AbdurRasaq Adenuga, amongst others.

In his sermon, the National chief missioner of Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria, Shaykh AbdurRahmon Ahmad implored the users of the new mosque to sustain the purpose of the mosque,which is to worship and further stated “the Mosque is not meant only for solat; it is must be an educational centre, a place to dispense justice, a place for recreation, a place to rest from stress, a place of serenity, a reconciliation centre and a place to bring social justice and ethical orientation to the people”.
