The management of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State has announced the reopening of the institution for Thursday, June 15, 2023.
The school was abruptly shut down following the death of a student beaten by residents’ of the Imaweje community, the university’s host community
The university stated this on Tuesday in a statement by its registrar, Dapo Oke, made available to newsmen.
The statement read, “The university Senate, at its emergency meeting held on Tuesday, June 13, 2024, considered the interim report on the ongoing investigation of the Imaweje/Student Fracas and approved the reopening of the university for Thursday, June 15, 2023.
“It also reviewed the university calendar and approved the extension of teaching practice for 400-level students by one month.
“In the same vein, the matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students for the 2022/2023 academic session would take place on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, while the first semester examinations for 100 – 400-level students would commence the first week in July 2023.
“E- test continues on Monday, June 19, 2023.”
The management, however, read a riot act to the students on cultism, saying its policy on zero tolerance for cultism is still fully operational.
The statement further read, “Students are hereby warned to stay clear of all forms of violence as any student found contravening any University rules and regulations would be summarily dealt with.
“They are enjoined to maintain a cordial relationship with their host communities.”
